Cookies, scripts and fonts on the site
The Bookmakers.com.ng theme writes no cookies and stores nothing in your browser’s local storage. Pages load without analytics tags, advertising code or scripts from other companies.
The menu, the list filters, the promo-code copy button and the acca, odds and wagering calculators all run from one script file served by the site itself. Calculator figures stay in your browser while you type.
Fonts load from the same server as the pages, so reading any page sends no request to Google Fonts or any other font host.
WordPress, the software behind the site, sets login cookies for administrators who sign in to manage content. A reader who opens bookmaker pages, guides and calculators receives none of them.
Outbound links
What happens when you click a /go/ link
Bookmaker buttons point to an address that starts with /go/ and ends with the bookmaker’s name. The server answers with a 302 redirect to the address stored for that bookmaker, and your browser moves straight on to the operator’s site.
For partner bookmakers that address carries an affiliate tracking code, which lets the operator credit an account opened from Bookmakers.com.ng. The About page explains how the commission works.
The /go/ addresses are marked noindex and blocked in robots.txt, so search engines leave them out of their results.
From the moment the bookmaker’s page opens, its own privacy policy and cookie rules apply, including to the personal details you give when you register.
Each visit
Data sent with every page request
Each time a page loads, your browser sends the server your IP address, the browser and device type and the address of the page you asked for. The server needs these details to send the page back, as with any website.
Comments are switched off across the site, and reading it needs no account, newsletter sign-up or form. Browsing therefore involves handing over no name, email address or phone number.
Blocking cookies in your browser settings leaves the site working exactly as before, since the theme has none to set for readers. Bookmaker pages, guides and calculators are written for adults: the betting age in Nigeria is 18.
