The rules
How today’s 2 odds slip is built
Today’s 2 odds slip is built from the tips on today’s match pages. Each leg needs a chance of 60% or more and a real bookmaker price of at least 1.15, and no match gives more than one leg.
From those legs, every combination of two or three is priced. The slip shown is the one with total odds between 1.85 and 2.35 and the highest chance of all legs landing. On a thin day the window widens to 1.70 to 2.60, and no slip is forced if nothing fits.
Once the first leg kicks off, the slip is fixed and settles as it stands.
Tomorrow
2 odds for tomorrow
2 odds for tomorrow is built the same way as soon as enough of tomorrow’s match pages are written, usually by the evening before. Until then the space below says so.
If a leg is postponed before the slip starts, the slip is rebuilt from the remaining legs. After the first kick-off, a postponed leg counts at odds of 1.00 and the rest of the slip stands.
Each leg links to its match page, with the form, the head-to-head record and the price at the time it was read.
In naira
What 2.00 odds mean in naira
2.00 odds mean a ₦1,000 stake returns ₦2,000, so the profit equals the stake. A slip at 1.90 returns ₦1,900 and one at 2.30 returns ₦2,300.
The odds also tell you the chance the bookmaker gives the slip. 2.00 implies 50%, 1.90 implies 52.6% and 2.30 implies 43.5%.
Each slip shows its own chance next to the price. When that chance is higher than the price implies, the slip is priced in your favour. A ₦5,000 stake at 1.95 returns ₦9,750, a profit of ₦4,750, and the same sums apply to any slip you build. Losing slips return nothing, whatever the odds.
Staking
2 odds daily and your stake
Backing 2 odds daily means accepting losing days. At a 50% chance, three losses in a row happen about one week in eight, and five in a row about once in a month or two.
A fixed stake handles that better than doubling after a loss. ₦1,000 a day for 30 days at a 50% strike rate and 2.00 odds ends close to level, before the margin.
Decide a monthly limit before you start. The responsible gambling page lists tools that help you keep to it. A run of losses is part of the maths, and the next slip carries its own chance, unchanged by the last one.
Record
2 odds results from the last 30 days
2 odds results are kept for every slip once all its legs are decided. Won and lost slips stay in the list with their total odds, so the record shows the bad days as well as the good ones.
The 2 odds for today slip joins the record the morning after its last leg ends, so yesterday’s result is always the top row. Older slips drop off after 30 days.
A strike rate near 50% at odds near 2.00 is break-even before the bookmaker’s margin. The record is there to show whether the chances on each slip hold up over a month.
